Professional aluminium tape for insulation and sealing work
AL053 is a single-sided aluminium adhesive tape designed for closing, joining and sealing aluminium-faced insulation systems. It combines a highly conformable aluminium backing with a pressure-sensitive rubber adhesive.
Its flexible backing follows embossed patterns, curved sections and uneven surfaces. This makes it suitable for achieving clean, continuous joints on ventilation ducts, insulated pipework and thermal equipment.
The silicone release liner protects the adhesive before use and supports accurate, controlled installation. Once positioned and firmly pressed onto the substrate, the tape provides durable adhesion for industrial, technical and building-service applications.
Vapour barrier performance for hot and cold systems
The aluminium backing acts as a vapour barrier and helps maintain the integrity of the insulation system. It supports moisture control around joints and connection areas on both hot and cold installations.
Its strong UV and weather resistance supports long-term bonding performance when the substrate is correctly prepared and the recommended application conditions are followed.
Recommended applications
- Sealing air-conditioning and ventilation duct insulation.
- Closing joints on insulated pipes and process pipework.
- Joining aluminium facings and insulation cladding.

Application guidance
Apply the tape to a clean, dry surface free from dust, oil, grease and condensation. Cut the required length, gradually remove the silicone release liner and position the tape while avoiding folds or trapped air.
Apply firm and even pressure across the full width of the tape to maximise contact with the substrate. On embossed or uneven surfaces, carefully smooth the aluminium backing into the surface profile.
Storage and recommended shelf life
Store the tape in its original packaging in a dry location, protected from direct light, at a temperature between 15 °C and 27 °C. Use within 24 months of the production date for recommended performance.
Technical information
The technical data provided is based on the manufacturer’s experience and on results obtained from external testing institutions. These figures are representative and do not automatically guarantee product performance for every individual application.
Carry out suitable tests under actual operating conditions before production or site use. Check compatibility with the substrate, temperature, humidity and mechanical stresses involved in the project.
